Lend

How to lend.

Earn from pieces already hanging in your wardrobe. We take 12.5% of the rental and nothing else.

01

01 List a piece

You need an account and a few photos of the actual piece. Not the brand’s press shot - yours, on a hanger or on you.

Add the brand, category, size, fit, occasion and condition, and a short description. Mention anything a renter would be annoyed to discover: a mark, a sticky zip, that it runs small.

You confirm that you own the piece, that it is genuine, and that it is clean and fit to be worn. Counterfeits are removed and the account closed.

02

02 Set your price

Enter the retail price and we suggest a daily rate of about 4% of it. A £400 dress suggests £16 a day. You can change it.

Set your cleaning time as well as your cleaning charge. That is how many days the piece is at the cleaner after it comes back. Those days are blocked on your calendar so nobody books the piece while it is away. We do not assume a number - leave it empty and nothing is blocked.

A booking takes more days off your calendar than the renter pays for: time for you to post it, time for the renter to post it back, then your cleaning days. By tracked parcel that is two days at each end. The listing page shows you the total for your own piece before you publish.

The renter leaves a deposit. It is 25% of the retail price you set, taken at checkout and held until the piece is back with you and checked. An approved damage claim comes out of it, and so does any day the renter kept the piece past the end date - those are charged at your daily rate and paid to you.

Set a cleaning charge too. The renter pays it on top of the rental, and you receive all of it - we take nothing from the cleaning.

The shortest rental anyone can book is 3 days, so your daily rate is never earning less than 3 days’ worth.

03

03 Say when it is free

Block out dates you need the piece yourself. Everything else is bookable, and days get blocked automatically as bookings come in, so two people can never book the same week.

Keep this current. A booking is confirmed the moment a renter pays - there is no accept step - so if a date is open, you have to be able to send the piece.

You can pause or delete a listing whenever you like. Bookings already taken still stand.

04

04 Choose your carriers

Pick which parcel carriers you are willing to walk to - Royal Mail, Evri, InPost or DPD. Renters are only offered the ones you chose, so nobody books a carrier whose nearest drop-off is three miles from your door.

Pick none and your listings will not offer a parcel option at all, which cuts down who can rent from you.

05

05 When it is booked

You will see the booking on your listings page. We book the courier 2 hours after the order, so have the piece clean, packed and ready from then.

By post - we buy the label, it appears on the order, you print it and drop the parcel off.

By courier - where offered, a courier comes to you and you hand it over.

Pack it properly. Most damage happens in transit, not at the event.

06

06 What you earn

VeeRent takes 12.5% of the rental total. That is all. No listing fee, no monthly fee, no charge for photos.

On a £16-a-day dress booked for 5 days, with a £10 cleaning charge:

  • Rental, 5 days at £16£80.00
  • VeeRent fee, 12.5%−£10.00
  • Cleaning charge, all yours+£10.00
  • You receive£80.00

Delivery charges go to the carrier, not to you and not to us. Payouts are made after the rental finishes and the piece is back.

07

07 When it comes back

Check it when it arrives and tell the renter within 24 hours if something is wrong. Have it cleaned - that is what the cleaning charge was for.

Ordinary wear is part of lending: creases, light marks, a loose thread. Small repairs and standard cleaning are absorbed between VeeRent and you, and renters are not charged for them.

For real damage - tears, burns, deep staining, missing parts - report it through VeeRent within 7 days of the rental ending. We ask the renter for their side, tell them if a charge is fair, and ask them to pay it.

08

Worth knowing before you start

  • Photograph the piece before you send it and when it comes back - it is the only evidence that settles a damage dispute
  • Avoid lending anything irreplaceable, heavily beaded or very delicate; repeated rental will show
  • Keep conversations on VeeRent - off-platform deals have no payment protection and no tracking
  • You are responsible for declaring your earnings to HMRC
  • Cancelling a confirmed booking carries a penalty, so only list dates you can honour
