How we handle your personal data, what we share and with whom, and the rights you have over it. Last updated 11 October 2026.
01
VEERENT LTD (“VeeRent”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal data described here. We are a private limited company registered in England & Wales, company number 15805057, with a registered office at Flat 47, Qube 12 Scotland Street, Birmingham, England, B1 2RR.
VeeRent is a marketplace for renting and lending clothing in the United Kingdom. For questions about this policy or about your data, write to support@veerent.com.
This policy is written under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
02
Your account. Email address, first and last name, display name, username, phone number, profile photo, a short bio if you write one, and the gender section you shop in.
Your address. Street address, city, county, postcode, country, and the map coordinates of that address. We need this to collect a piece from a lender and deliver it to a renter.
Your sizes. The top, bottom and shoe sizes you save, so listings can be matched to you.
What you list and rent. Listings you create (brand, category, size, condition, description, photos, prices, dates you are unavailable), orders you place or receive, rental dates, amounts, the delivery method chosen, and reviews you write.
Your activity on the site. Items you save, items in your bag, your account credit balance, and members you have blocked.
Messages. The messages you send to other members through VeeRent. See “Messages are screened” below.
Technical data. Our hosting and database providers record standard server logs, including your IP address, the time of the request and your browser type. We use these to keep the service running and to investigate abuse.
We do not collect your date of birth, and we do not ask for identity documents.
03
You can create a VeeRent account with an email address and password, or by signing in with Google.
If you sign in with Google, we receive only your basic Google profile: your name, your email address, your profile picture and your Google account ID. We ask for no other permissions. We cannot see your Gmail, your Google Drive, your contacts or your calendar, and we never request access to them.
We use that data for one purpose: to create your VeeRent account and sign you in. It is stored in Firebase Authentication and in your VeeRent profile. We do not share Google user data with anyone except the providers listed below who run the service for us, and we never sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train any model.
You can disconnect VeeRent from your Google account at any time in your Google account settings. To remove the data we already hold, ask us to delete your account.
04
To perform our contract with you. Creating and running your account, showing your listings, taking payment, arranging collection and delivery, handling cancellations and refunds, and passing messages between members.
To meet a legal obligation. Keeping records of orders, payments and refunds for tax and accounting.
For our legitimate interests. Preventing fraud and abuse, screening messages (see below), moderating listings, settling disputes between members, keeping the site secure, and understanding which parts of the service are used so we can fix and improve them.
With your consent. Only where we ask for it explicitly. We do not currently rely on consent for anything, because we send no marketing.
Where we rely on legitimate interests you can object. See “Your rights”.
05
We share personal data only with the providers that run VeeRent, and only the data each one needs. Each is bound by a contract to process it on our instructions.

Your card details are the one exception to all of this. They go from your browser straight to Stripe, never reach a VeeRent server, and we never store them.
Other members. When you rent or lend, the other member sees your first name, display name, profile photo and bio. Your address is given to the carrier to print a label, and is not shown to the other member in the app. Your email address and phone number are not shown to other members.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, to a regulator, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
06
Our database and our servers both run in London, United Kingdom. Your data is stored in the UK.
Some of our providers are based outside the UK, so data reaches them abroad. Stripe operates from Ireland and the United States. Sendcloud is in the Netherlands. Uber is in the United States. Google and Amazon are United States companies with UK data centres.
Where data goes to a country without a UK adequacy decision, the transfer is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or by Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards that apply to a particular provider.
07
Your account. While your account is open. If you ask us to close it, we delete your profile, your address, your sizes, your saved items and your bag within 30 days.
Orders, payments and refunds. Six years after the end of the tax year in which the rental happened, because UK tax and company law require us to keep them. These records stay after your account is closed and are reduced to what the law needs.
Messages. Two years after the conversation ends, so we can settle a dispute if one is raised.
Listings. Removed when you delete them. Details of a piece that was actually rented stay in the order record for the period above.
Server logs. Kept for the period our hosting and database providers apply, which is up to 12 months.
08
Every message you send is checked by our own software on our server before it is delivered. Nothing is sent to a third party to do this, and no person reads your messages as part of the check.
The check looks for email addresses, phone numbers, links and attempts to arrange payment away from VeeRent. If it fires, the message is not delivered and you are told which rule stopped it. We do this to protect members from fraud we cannot see or put right, and to keep rentals inside the system that insures and tracks them.
Our moderators can read a conversation when a member reports it, or when we are investigating a dispute or suspected fraud.
09
VeeRent sets no cookies. We use no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics. We do not track you across other websites.
We do store a small amount of data in your own browser, which never leaves your device except when you are signed in to us:
All of this is needed for the site to work or is a direct convenience you asked for by using it, so we do not show a cookie banner. Clearing your browser storage signs you out and resets these preferences.
10
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
Exercising any of these rights is free, and we will not treat you differently for doing so. See “How to make a request” below for what to send us.
There is no automated decision-making or profiling on VeeRent that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
11
Email support@veerent.com from the email address your VeeRent account is registered to. That is how we check the request is really from you. There is no form to fill in.
Tell us which of the rights above you want to use, and your account name or the email on the account. For a request about one order, give us the order date and the piece. The more we have, the less we need to come back and ask.
We reply within one month of receiving your request. If your request is complicated we may take up to two further months, and we will tell you within the first month if that happens. Requests are free.
If you ask us to delete your account,we remove your profile, your address, your sizes, your saved items, your bag and your listings within 30 days of confirming the request. Your order, payment and refund records stay for the period set out in “How long we keep it”, because UK tax and company law require it. We will tell you what is being kept and why before we start.
We cannot delete an account in the middle of a live rental. If a piece is out with you, or one of yours is out with somebody else, the rental has to finish first. We will say so and come back to you when it is done.
If you cannot email us from your registered address, write from any address and say so. We will ask you for something else that shows the account is yours before we act, because handing your data to the wrong person is the worse mistake.
12
VeeRent is for adults. You must be 18 or over to hold an account. We do not knowingly collect data about anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their data, write to support@veerent.com and we will delete it.
13
Traffic to VeeRent is encrypted in transit. Access to the database is controlled by rules that let you read and write only your own records. Your home address, phone number and email address are readable by you and by VeeRent staff who need them, and by nobody else on the platform.
No system is perfect. If a breach puts your rights at risk we will tell the ICO within 72 hours and tell you without undue delay.
14
We update this page when what we do changes. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change materially affects your rights we will show a notice on the site. We do not have your permission to email you about it unless you have asked us to, so please check back here.
